History

A quote from Westfield Independent Chapel 1824-1924 booklet:

“We have a typical expression of the spirit of those days from the pen of Mr. Craven. He writes in 1881, “The Sunday School and the Bible Class may be regarded as the most important agencies in connection with the Church and the most useful spheres for activity on the part of the members.” Speaking more directly to teachers, he continues, “The Sunday School Teacher is not charged merely with the communication of historical and other information, illustrative of the Bible, he ought never to lose sight of the main object of his work, which is to bring those committed to his care under the power of Christ Jesus for their salvation.”
